Cultural-Historical Practice: To the History of Concept

Abstract

The concept of cultural-historical practice, the history of which can be traced back to Antiquity, quite popular in the philosophy of the 20th century, today has turned out to be pushed to the periphery of philosophical discourse, while it still retains the potential for understanding the structure of the post-colonial world, topical problems of the diversity of cultures and practices. To develop a philosophical methodology adequate to these problems, it is necessary to study the history of the concept of cultural-historical practice, which is the goal of the current study. The authors show changes in the semantic content of the concept of “practice” from ancient philosophy to the Soviet philosophical tradition. The article also shows the dynamics of the key meanings of practice from the initial activity of a person to the division into theoretical and practical activity, as well as the specifics of historical changes in practice. A conclusion is made about the preservation of the potential of the concept of cultural and historical practice for the analysis of modern problems of the world order.
