Russia's Economic Security: BRICS Cooperation in the Context of Globalization and Sanctions

Abstract

The importance of Russia's economic security in the context of globalization and sanctions pressure, as well as the role of cooperation with other BRICS countries in ensuring sustainable economic growth are key aspects of this study, since economic security directly affects the stability of the national economy and the sovereignty of the state. Despite widespread attention to the issues of sanctions and their impact, there is not enough research in the modern literature that systemically examines the role of Russia's cooperation with BRICS countries on certain categories of issues that were discussed at the 16th Summit in Kazan. The purpose of the study is to identify factors contributing to strengthening economic security, and to assess the opportunities and challenges associated with integration into multilateral economic structures through e-commerce. The results of the study reveal the need to intensify Russia's integration with friendly states in order to diversify foreign economic relations, which will minimize the negative consequences of the sanctions policy. In the future, the authors’ findings may be used for shaping an effective foreign economic policy of Russia.
