Abstract

The modern development of artificial intelligence provides new tools and opportunities for training specialists of various profiles. In the absence of a clear strategy for the development of artificial intelligence in a humanitarian university, students master it on their own. In this process, they form ideas about the role of artificial intelligence in society, professional and personal life, which have not yet been sufficiently studied and have not received a quantitative sociological assessment. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the ideas of students of a regional humanitarian university about the possibilities of artificial intelligence at the societal, professional and individual levels. The scientific novelty lies in obtaining quantitative characteristics reflecting the statics and dynamics of the process of humanities students’ mastering AI. Frequency and regression analysis was used in the study. The characteristics obtained can be used to create AI strategy in a humanitarian university and develop new training courses and programs adapted to the specifics of artificial intelligence. As a result, it was found that more than 70% of the students have an idea about artificial intelligence. According to 62% of the students, artificial intelligence can make our lives better, and 67% believe that learning the capabilities of artificial intelligence is important for their future professional activities. As many as 70.4% of the respondents noted their willingness to start studying artificial intelligence. We obtained regression dependencies reflecting the change in the students' attitude to AI during the entire period of study at the university.
