Abstract

The article is aimed at a critical analysis of the theoretical foundations and practices of terrorism in the modern world in an ethno-cultural context. The phenomenon of ethno-cultural diversity is recognized as a reality at the global level, but the adoption of the global scale of the policy and ideology of terrorism, aimed at destabilization, chaos, fears and anxieties through violence, repression, coercion against the state, society, and the individual, can also be considered as a reality. In the present situation, increased attention is paid to the confessional dimension of international terrorism, which often leads to conflict situations, but it is impossible not to pay attention to local terrorism associated with certain ethno-cultural attitudes to the relapse of the past. In terms of social and political uncertainty, the disappearance of a sense of shared loyalty and guaranteed security, under the influence of rapid changes in social life and public sentiment are reproduced recurrence of toterrorism related to the paradoxes of modernity, with the coexistence of archaic ethnic stereotypes and the use of modern methods of constructing an ethnic traditions associated with the glorification of violence as a way to protect ethnic group.
