Abstract

The subject of the study is the transformation of youth subcultures in the conditions of digital reality. The aim of the work is to describe a philosophical and cultural understanding of the transition from classical, structurally formed subcultures to fluid, network forms of identity ("digital nomadism"). The methodology is based on the synthesis of the phenomenological approach, the theory of the network society, and the poststructuralist concept of the rhizome. The research has revealed that modern subcultural activity is losing the features of rigid opposition to the mainstream, transforming into aestheticized "style communities" with diffuse boundaries. It has been substantiated that the virtualization of communication generates the phenomenon of "flickering" identity, which is realized through simulacra of style. The prospects of the research are associated with the study of algorithmic determination of youth cultural codes and the ethical implications of digital escapism.
