Digital Power in Question: Resistance Practices and Critical Perception Strategies

Abstract

In the context of the digitalization of social space, traditional forms of power are transformed into distributed, algorithmically organized regimes of control that permeate everyday life and shape the cognitive, behavioral, and affective structures of the subject. Despite numerous studies of digital power and surveillance capitalism, systemic approaches to the analysis of resistance practices capable of preserving subjective autonomy are virtually absent. The aim of this study is to identify and classify strategies of resistance to digital power as mechanisms for preserving the integrity of the subject. The methodological framework includes philosophical and sociological analysis, Michel Foucault's discourse on governmentality, Sh. Zuboff's theory of surveillance capitalism, and approaches from digital humanism. Three types of resistance are distinguished: ascetic (self-restraint, digital minimalism), technopolitical (creation of decentralized alternative infrastructures), and philosophical and contemplative (ontological distancing from algorithmic norms). The authors demonstrate that resistance acts as a creative, transformative practice that enables the preservation of critical thinking, cultural agency, and genuine freedom. Their findings open a new direction in the study of digital power, examining resistance as a systemic mechanism for anthropological and ethical autonomy.
