Abstract

Public opinion plays an important role in the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects, as does informing the public about the construction progress in order to reduce managerial, economic, and environmental risks, as well as social tension. At the present stage, there are virtually no sociological studies on the implementation of megaprojects in Russian academia. The aim of this study was to identify the factors determining the attitudes of five settlements in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) toward the construction of the Lena Bridge. In July 2025, a survey was conducted among 252 respondents, all located in the area where this industrial giant is being built. The survey was supplemented by 10 follow-up interviews.  Socio-demographic factors influencing support were identified: young age (under 35), satisfaction with life in their locality, confidence in the future, and residence in the urban-type settlement of Nizhny Bestyakh.
