Theoretical Foundations of Military-Patriotic Education: Extrapolation of the Soviet Experience to Modern Reality

Contemporary socio-political realities underline a notable "rebirth" phenomenon manifested in the revival of certain institutions and practices from Soviet times. One such area is military and patriotic education. In the USSR, it was a robust political and legal structure characterized by a strong theoretical and practical framework. Despite extensive Soviet experience in establishing the basic principles of military patriotism and the absence of a complete conceptual apparatus for the phenomenon, researchers often overlook the historical background and specific mechanisms that shaped it. The main goal of this study is to clarify the key theoretical aspects of military and patriotic education in Soviet times and explore its potential adaptation to modern Russian conditions. The research has identified the fundamental aspects of Soviet military and patriotic education, including its underlying principles and main areas. The results contribute to advancing the theoretical foundations of building patriotism, providing an in-depth analysis of the essential characteristics of its historic prototype. This study serves as a basis for selectively applying these features to develop a modern model that incorporates normative considerations.
