Intellectual Volunteering as a Tool for Enhancing the Population’s Quality of Life: Student Engagement

Volunteer practice for young people acts as a channel for socialization, professional identification and the formation of a civic position, which provides a potential impact on the social well-being of territorial communities. The aim of the study is to determine the motivation and degree of students’ involvement in intellectual volunteering as a factor contributing to improving the quality of life of the population. The International Center for Sociological Research of Belgorod State National Research University conducted a sociological study in 2024 (a survey of students of the Belgorod region, n = 806). The results showed that intellectual volunteerism works as an effective mechanism for creating a synergy of students’ personal and professional development and for solving urgent problems of territorial communities. The conclusion is made about the need for targeted measures to stimulate student engagement (educational programs, institutional support, recognition mechanisms) aimed at scaling intellectual volunteerism as a resource for sustainable social development.
