Autofiction in Society: How the Internet Space Has Influenced Literature

Abstract

The paper is focused on autofiction as a socio-literary phenomenon consisting in comparison and identification of similarities between virtual space (the Internet) and artistic space (literature). The study is based on the rejection of autofiction as a literary genre, since it is social rather than literary factors that play a large role in the formation of autofiction. The emergence of autofiction is associated with a change in the perception of information by modern people. The author provides examples of some factors that influenced both the reader and the author, including media, the Internet, and social networks. The study addresses pressing issues of self-identification posed by autofiction literature and raised by contemporary man. In conclusion, the influence of scientific and technological progress on a literary text is revealed, especially on the issues, method of narration, chronotope, plot formation, and the choice of characters.
