Abstract

The choice of the methodological path preceded by a scholar’s research stance determines the study into the works of art and the understanding of an artists’ lifeworld. This phenomenon is a complex combination of the scientist’s worldview, ideas, motivation, interests, preferences, cognitive style, and tastes. As a promising approach, the specificity of empathic (intuitive) phenomenology is substantiated. Unlike the traditional and widely used descriptive and interpretative phenomenological approaches to the study of artistic culture in modern science, emphatic phenomenology consists in the pre-reflective ability of consciousnesses to "co-exist" with each other and is focused on the personal-existential and emotional-sensual sphere of an artist. The article consistently presents comparative characteristics, tasks, and techniques of empathic-phenomenological reduction.
