Year of the Family 2024 (To the History of the Question of Modelling the Ideal of the Family from Theology to the Philosophy of Law)

Abstract

The key issue of the demographic situation in Russia today has attracted the attention of both government agencies and society as a whole. A multitude of factors, coupled with insufficient social policy in this area over the past three decades, have led to disappointing conclusions - the population in the country is rapidly declining. While previously this problem could be masked by the unregulated flow of migrants, today, due to the growing conflicts on inter-ethnic grounds, especially among Central Asians, this mechanism should be recognised as a dead end. In this regard, society and the State are faced with the task of solving the demographic crisis, which can be overcome only by restoring the institution of traditional family relations – the traditional family. Considering various approaches to the ideal of family relations, the authors analyse the established "materialistic" and "orthodox-traditionalist" approaches to understanding family relations. Based on legal acts and scientific literature, it is concluded that the solution to the demographic crisis, which is a consequence of the destruction of the institution of the family, and its restoration is impossible without the traditional Orthodox approach in the field of marriage and family relations.
