Religious Studies on the Phenomenon of Foolishness: The Problem of Applicability of Neophenomenology Jacques Waardenburg

The presented work reflects the first experience of systematic research of the phenomenon of Russian foolishness. Its detailed consideration sheds light on the Russian mentality, opens up new facets of Russian culture, and also takes neophenomenology to a new level of practical methodology. Previously, in the corpus of religious studies, this problem field was not singled out as an object of independent study. The aim of the study is to determine the limits of applicability of the systematic methodology of Zh. Waardenburg in modern religious studies by the example of the analysis of the phenomenon of Russian foolishness. It is concluded that the concept of the Dutch researcher allows combining different approaches in one theory, where religion appears as an orientation system. In general, the application of this methodology provides an opportunity for a more detailed study of religious facts of various religious traditions.
