Within the framework of modern social research about man (Social Studies), the reception of M. Bakhtin's ideas seems to be a fruitful field for the search for new solutions in various applied disciplines. Methodologically, M. Bakhtin's developments are perceived in the modern world tradition as part of the disciplinary field of "Social Studies" to a greater extent than "Arts and Humanities". We will try to consider in which of the most significant areas of social knowledge about a person abroad the Bakhtin reception appears these days. The research methodology is based on various comparative approaches, reconstruction of traditional and modern contexts and continuity of ideas. The results obtained demonstrate that one of the distinctive features of Western reception is the practice of translating the Bakhtin methodology from the field of pure humanities to the field of empirical sciences, in particular in the field of gender studies, social, psychological and political sciences. The innovative perspective of the research allowed us to show that the formation of the body of Bakhtin's ideas in the English-speaking research environment occurred not so much due to a comprehensive consideration of his legacy, as due to the original interpretation of selected plots and conceptualizations of Bakhtin's thought for the purpose of application in the field of field research in the field of social sciences.
