Abstract

Citizen science research is gaining popularity today due to the increasing involvement of amateurs in various scientific projects. At the same time, in a transforming world, it is important to analyze the most successful projects and the experience of their implementation. Due to the fact that the success, as well as the citizen science projects themselves, are insufficiently studied in domestic works, their consideration and designation of the key vectors of the development of this direction is relevant. The purpose of this study is to study modern successful practices of citizen science in order to identify the current state of development and key vectors of amateur research initiatives. To study the problem in the study, a content analysis of scientific publications and programs of citizen science projects was carried out. As a result of the study, it was determined that the most important modern directions of citizen science are orientation to socially significant projects and the development of integration into such projects, as well as the importance and orientation to activism and activist initiatives. The obtained results contribute to the study of the prospects for the development of citizen science, as well as to the understanding and rethinking of scientific activism.
