On the Issue of the Socio-Cultural Phenomenology of War

Abstract

The article is devoted to the issue of the socio-cultural phenomenology of war and man in war conditions. The object is the cultural and historical phenomenon of war in the space-time continuum; the subject is the modification of a person as a conceptual character in the conditions of military practices. The goal is to understand the space of cultural meanings of war and spiritual and moral transformations of a person in war conditions. It is proved that the understanding of the paradigm of war as a rational-reflective form of being of culture and man in the space-time continuum raises the question of the boundaries of the transformation of images of war and man in the conditions of military practices. The thesis is substantiated that: the holistic reflection of the image and concept of "war" in history and modernity is inextricably linked with the "human problem", the moral imperatives of personality, which in objective military realities undergo radical transformations. Hence, it is legitimate to assume that the space of cultural meanings of the phenomenon of war is comparable to Kant's unknown "thing in itself", the philosophical meanings and contexts of which are associated with a categorical moral imperative, which war violates, deforms and to some extent restricts.
