Abstract

This study is the first to compare the philosophical and terminological concepts of the patrologists John of Damascus and Leontius of Byzantium. Although both key figures in patristics and medieval philosophy, their views are rarely examined together in a single analysis. The study reveals similarities and differences in their interpretations of essential categories (such as "essence" and "accident"), which played a crucial role in shaping the worldview of the Middle Ages. Analyzing the conceptual frameworks of both authors provides new insights into the development of religious dogma and theological reasoning.
