Problem of Methodological Assessment of the Drug Situation among the Youth in an Individual Region on the Example of the Krasnoyarsk Territory: Sociological Aspect

Abstract

Among the numerous problems faced by contemporary Russian society, the issue of youth drug abuse is significant. The spread of drugs and psychoactive substances in Russia has a strong negative impact on everyday life of Russian young people, since these negative social phenomena aggravate other problems of society (increased costs in the sociological and economic spheres, criminalization of society, etc.). Due to the lack of life experience, young people are more susceptible to influence and are increasingly drawn into the drug business through various information technologies, including the Internet, and become drug addicts. The existing sociological studies of the drug situation are aimed at assessing its general trends and do not focus on the state of specific population groups, especially the young. In this article, the author offers some methodological approaches to the study of the drug situation among young people in an individual Siberian region, which is characterized by low population density and a high level of urbanization. The article presents the findings of a study into the drug situation in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and suggests ways of preventing drug abuse among young people.
