Conceptualization of the Idea of Serving the Fatherland in the Philosophy of Antiquity

The subject of this study is the formation of the idea of serving the Fatherland as a philosophical category. The relationship between historical, religious and social factors with the formation of this phenomenon in Greek philosophy is revealed. Using the method of historical reconstruction, the author highlights the dependence of the concept of "serving the Fatherland" on the tasks that the great thinkers Aristotle and Plato set for the society of that time. The interpretation of this concept by ancient philosophers is considered, and the correlation between public sentiment and patriotic ideas is investigated. Research interest in this topic helps rethink the problems of self-identity and national self-consciousness which have recently become the focus of public attention due to the challenges of our time.
