Abstract

The collective monograph presented for review analyzes modern approaches to understanding the role of tradition and the correlation of innovations in religion and religious culture with it. The authors from philosophical, historical, psychological and semiotic-hermeneutical positions offer an interesting,  according to the reviewers, approach to the study of religious traditionalism and modernism, taking into account various worldview paradigms and points of view. This makes it possible to consider religious dynamics through the prism of modern discourse, which for certain reasons operates with ideologies of opposition to fundamentalism, traditionalism and modernism, which does not contribute to the scientific understanding of religious processes. The review notes that the issues analyzed in this monograph are united by the main idea of considering religious tradition, taking into account the peculiarities of various religions and confessions functioning in public space. It is concluded that the monograph is an up-to-date analysis of the current state of religious culture and the forms in which religious tradition is reproduced, taking into account the characteristics of various religions and confessions functioning in public space. The monograph is of interest to religious scholars, cultural scientists, students of theology, teachers of such disciplines as Fundamentals of Religious Cultures and Secular Ethics and Fundamentals of Spiritual and Moral Culture of Peoples of Russia.
