Abstract

The concept of ecological civilization is inscribed in the Chinese mentality, culture, ideology of the Communist Party of China and represents a long-term action plan for China's transition to sustainable development. The need to develop such a concept was due to the fact that the UN-approved concept of sustainable development is too abstract and requires consideration of national specifics. The study proves that Russia needs to develop its own action plan for the transition to sustainable development, which would take into account the peculiarities of the national consciousness of the country's citizens. The authors give examples of archetypes of consciousness of Russians that affect their attitude to nature, requiring support by means of environmental education, education, as well as through state funding (or correction by measures of responsibility). The development of a doctrinal model of Russia's transition to sustainable development, taking into account the peculiarities of the national consciousness of the population, and its approval by state authorities will make the transition to sustainable development smoother and more consistent, as well as increase support for nature protection measures by citizens of the Russian Federation.
