Abstract

One of the main features of personality is uniqueness, and the presence of the other affects the distinctness of this uniqueness. Without other people, we might never know about the community, its meaning, as well as some of our qualities and characteristics. The other is not a static object whose function has no effect on us. On the contrary, the very presence of another person is an important factor influencing our understanding of ourselves. In this article, the other is considered in the sense of an individual (separate) person in general, and not belonging to any group or subgroup. It is concluded that a person sees less and less meaning in another and more and more a threat. Perhaps that is why fear of others has suppressed love for them.
