The Golden Rosycross International Theological School “Lectorium Rosicrucianum” and the “New Century” Movement as Religious Identities Within the Framework of Modern Occultism

Abstract

Specifics of the modern process of desecularization is the emergence of new religious movements, which raises the problem of their classification. The typologies of that exist today do not always adequately reflect the realities, correctly define the essence of modern religious cults, and hence their place in the system of new religions. The article considers the problem of the correspondence of the new religious association, the International Spiritual School of the Golden Rosycross “Lectorium Rosicrucianum”, with the basic characteristics of the New Age movement. Based on a comparative analysis of the substantive aspects of the teachings of these religious associations, the author discovers significant differences in their worldview positions and comes to the conclusion that they are alternative due to their belonging to various spiritual projects.
